AMRITSAR: In a powerful display of interfaith solidarity and compassion, the Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, held a dry ration distribution at a local Gurudwara in Village Rurewal, providing much-needed support to communities affected by the recent floods in Amritsar, as a part of its Operation Faith in Action.
Led by The Right Reverend Manoj Charan, Bishop, Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, and Acting Deputy Moderator, CNI, a team of the Diocese visited Village Rurewal and Village Kuraaliyan to provide relief and support to those in need. During their visit, the team connected with army personnel stationed in the area and discussed ongoing flood relief efforts.
The Diocese's visit to Village Rurewal revealed the devastating impact of the floods, with homes destroyed, belongings ruined, and lives disrupted. Despite these challenges, the resilience and hope of the community were evident, particularly among the children, who were eager to get back to learning.
The team also visited Village Kuraaliyan, which is still submerged and in dire need of flood relief. The Diocese has assured the villagers that they will revisit and continue their support. “We are committed to standing in solidarity with those affected by the floods, ” said Bishop Manoj Charan.
