FATEHGARH SAHIB:Webinar on “Career Guidance and Opportunities “was organised by the Post Graduate Department of English at Mata Gujri College here today. The aim of the Webinar was to focus on numerous opportunities that are available to the students. Dr. Bikramjit Singh Sandhu, Dean, Academics; & Head, P.G. Department of Commerce of the college was the esteemed speaker. Dr. Harveen Kaur, Head of the English Department, extended a hearty welcome to the speaker and the participants. She was of the view that it is a need of the hour to make the students aware about the plethora of opportunities available for a successful career, so that they can wisely make a good career-choice. While addressing the students she said that under the able guidance of Dr Kashmir Singh, Director-Principal of the College, English Department has always endeavoured to provide the students with the latest trends in the market regarding their education and to further enhance their careers through various facilities available in the institute.
Dr Bikramjit Singh Sandhu provided very valuable insights relating to the various fields which can be chosen by the students. Sandhu discussed different options for making a career in varying fields such as the Para Military Forces, banking sector, railways, teaching field, Army, Civil Services etc. He also apprised the students regarding Start-Up Schemes of the Govt. to establish their independent businesses. Dr. Sandhu emphasized the point that there are ample choices available for career which the students can opt, irrespective of whether the student is from humanities, commerce, I.T., etc. He also put some light on online and digital marketing and its scope. He stressed the need that the students should be well planned, well equipped and well aware of the job scenario around them and grab the opportunity. The special lecture concluded with a question-answer session between the honourable speaker and the students.
Prof Satpreet Kaur presented a vote of thanks. While addressing the students she said that this Webinar is an initiative to familiarize the students with the latest career opportunities in life. Prof. Rajinder Mann, Dr. Gauri Handa, Dr. Maninder Kainth and the faculty of English also attended the Webinar.
