LAMBI:Former union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said the next SAD-BSP government would revive all social welfare schemes which had been scrapped or severely curtailed by the Congress government even as she warned the people to beware of AAP’s failed Delhi Model which would result in withdrawal of all social benefits in Punjab.
Mrs Harsimrat Badal was addressing gatherings here in support of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
The Bathinda MP also led a frontal attack against chief minister Charanjit Channi saying the latter had put up bill boards saying “Channi karda masla hal” but had actually done nothing for the poor and downtrodden. “He has not even cared to revive lakhs of scrapped blue cards which entitle people to subsidised ration. Nor has he revived the SC scholarship scheme or taken action against Congressmen who embezzled crores meant for SC students. Even the announcement to allot five Marla plots to those who don’t have houses has remained on paper only”.
Asserting that Channi had done nothing except enrich himself, Mrs Badal demanded the chief minister should be proceeded against as per law as the Rs 11 crore ill gotten wealth recovered from latter’s nephew belonged to him”.
Speaking about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Mrs Badal said the party was now trying to befool Punjabis by projecting the so called Delhi Model in Punjab. Asserting that Delhiites had neither received potable drinking water or access to the even basic health facilities during the period of Covid pandemic, Mrs Badal said the Delhi Model was a fraud being perpetrated on the people of Punjab. She also highlighted how the promises being made in Punjab by AAP, including giving Rs 1, 000 per month to all women, had not been introduced in Delhi since the last eight years. “In fact farmers will lose the free power facility and social benefits like “aata-daal’ and ‘Shagun’ as they are not part of the Delhi Model”.

Urging people to vote for a time tested party and personality they had faith and trust in, Mrs Badal said the SAD was known for bringing in all round development in the area. She said similarly S Parkash Singh Badal, who is again contesting from this constituency, had devoted his entire life to the service of the people. “You have seen how Mr Badal has transformed this constituency and made it a model constituency. The SAD is committed to developing Lambi even further”, she added.
