CHANDIGARH: The Congress high command has taken notice of the 'deliberate' absene of former PPCC president Navjot Sidhu from the party's first worker's conference addressed by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. Sidhu is at loggerheads with the PPCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
Sidhu was earlier reramanded by Davender Yadav incharge of state affairs for holding parallel rallies in the state andattacking own party leaders. He didn't either attended the meetings called by Yadav. The PPCC president had also warned Sidhu of deciplinary action for holding political meetings without consuting the state unit of party.
It was expected that Navjot Sidhu, who claims to be loyal to party high command. would attend the Kharge's meeting. He was not seen on the dias where all party leaders, including all former PPCC presidents, were present. Sidhu's associates allege Sidhu was not invoted for the event. PPCC president however said that Sidhu volunteered to stay away from the rally.
Sidhu had used X(previusly Twitter) to welcome Kharge in Punjab and posted a video clip alleging party workers were always ignored in the Congress. Sidhu' seat was reserved on the dias which remained empty during the meeting.
Sidhu had addressed four rallies in Punjab at Moga, Hoshiarpur and Mehraj and Kotshamir villages in Bathinda district. PPCC president had issued show cause notice to former Congress MLA from Moga Maheshinder Singh and his son Damanjit Singh for organising the illegal meeting, addressed by Sidhu. They being supporters of Sidhu were suspended from the party but no action was taken against Sidhu. Yadav told the media everything is in the notice of aprty high command.
It is expected that after Sidhu's absence from Kharge's meeting, party may initiate action against Sidhu. He had joined Congress after resigning from BJP. He was made minister in the Capt Amarinder Singh government. But he ciriticised the way of working of Captain and finally he resigned from cabiet when his department was changed from local self government to power.
