PHAGWARA: Marking the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram Ji, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) held a historic state-level “Throne Must Change – Crown Must Change” mega rally at Phillaur on Thursday, which witnessed a massive turnout of supporters from across Punjab. The rally, organized under the “Save Punjab Campaign”, resonated with calls for a political transformation in the state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Addressing the sea of supporters, BSP Punjab president and former MP Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri declared that the party is determined to form the government in Punjab in 2027. He accused successive Congress, Akali-BJP, and AAP governments of pursuing anti-people policies that fueled unemployment, drug abuse, and religious intolerance. Dr. Karimpuri charged that over two lakh youths have lost their lives due to drugs, while incidents of desecration and attacks on religious institutions continued unchecked.

He criticized the current AAP government for its alleged apathy toward atrocities against Dalits and minorities, citing cases of vandalism at Guru Ghars and disrespect toward icons such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Bhagwan Valmiki Maharaj. He demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann apologize and take strict action against officials responsible for such incidents.

Pledging a new era of governance, Dr. Karimpuri announced that the BSP, once in power, will ensure free education and healthcare, 100% recruitment of teachers in government schools, and large-scale employment opportunities for the youth—drawing a parallel with the 12.5 lakh jobs provided under the BSP regime in Uttar Pradesh.

The rally was graced by senior leaders including Dr. Nachhatar Pal MLA, Prajapati Ajit Singh Bhaini, Kuldeep Singh Sardulgarh, Chaudhary Gurnam Singh, and Teerath Rajpura. Kulwant Kaur Ji, sister of Kanshi Ram Ji, was also present as a special guest. The proceedings were conducted by BSP’s state general secretary Advocate Balwinder Kumar.
