Says, assailants entered cabin and fired on hapless staff without any altercation as claimed by police
CHANDIGARH: The firing incident on a Petrol pump in Majitha turned out to be a major embarrassment for the AAP government as police alleged to have been trying to downplay the violent incident.
Police officials have claimed that assailants had come to get fuel for their vehicle and there was an altercation between the accused and the Petrol pump employees who refused to give Petrol. The Petrol pump belonged to member of SGPC Jodh Singh Samra and a close confident of SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
The claim was contradicted by SAD leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia who said police was making false statements to show it an isolated incident. Majthia said that it was a targeted 'terror attack' and Punjab Government is giving it a different colour. He said that gangsters were roaming freely on roads and nobody is safe in the state.
Majithia questioned the claim of the police and said that armed assailants came on a bike, parked the bike on road and walked towards cabin of the staff and fired indiscriminately to kill the Petrol Pump employees. Since the petrol pump was already closed and assailants walked to the cabin on foot, there was no argument over supply of fuel. He said that it was horrific situation that assailants targeted the petrol pump of a SAD leader and SGPC member and his close associate.
Majithia lashed out at CM Bhagwant Mann and said that he booked the LoP for giving an alert over bomb blasts in Punjab but he is silent on terror attack. He said that law and order situation in Punjab had gone out of control of AAP government. He sad that grenade attacks in Punjab is a routine now.
He demanded high level and independent probe into the attack on Majitha Petrol Pump and expressed his sympathy with the deceased employee and two others who are seriously injured in the attack.
