Lohri Festival Celebrated for Girls at State After Care Home, Amritsar

AMRITSAR: The Lohri festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm and warmth for the girls residing at the State After Care Home,  Majitha Road, Amritsar. The event was organized under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Amritsar, under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Administrative Judge, Sessions Division Amritsar and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rohit Kapoor, Administrative Judge, Sessions Division Amritsar and under the guidance of the Hon’ble Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar (Mohali), in collaboration with Invictus International School, Amritsar. 

The programme was graciously led by Ms. Jatinder Kaur, Learned District & Sessions Judge cum Chairperson,  Distirict Legal Services Authority, Amritsar, along with Sh. Amardeep Singh Bains, Secretary, DLSA, Amritsar. Their presence and interaction with the girls added immense value and encouragement to the occasion. 

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Jatinder Kaur, Learned Chairperson, DLSA-cum-District & Sessions Judge, Amritsar, emphasized the importance of protecting and educating girls and stated,  

“Celebrating Lohri with these girls reinforces the message of ‘Save the Girl Child and Educate the Girl Child’. Every girl deserves love, protection, and equal opportunities for education, which alone can empower her to become self-reliant and confident in life.” 

In a gesture of care and support for the girls' welfare, Founder & Director Ms. Manjot Dhillon of Invictus International School, Amritsar, presented a washing machine to the State After Care Home, which will greatly enhance the daily living conditions of the residents.
