CHANDIGARH: Reiterating that Bhagwant Mann's government has been completely hijacked and take over by AAP's Delhi-based leaders which has led to a constitutional crisis in the state, the Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar on Monday demanded that ambit of CBI probe into the Delhi Excise Policy must also investigate the Amritsar Hooch Tragedy.
The views were expressed by the BJP President during his media interaction outside Raj Bhawan here earlier today, after leading the BJP delegation which had called on the Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
In the wake of Amritsar Hooch Tragedy, Jakhar urged the Governor with the demand for a CBI probe into Amritsar Hooch Tragedy and AAP's liquor mafia links.
Led by President Sunil Jakhar, BJP delegation called on the Governor here this afternoon and submitted a detailed memorandum also seeking probe into links of AAP's Punjab leadership with liquor mafia running amok in Punjab. The delegation demanded that ED must be asked to undertake a thorough probe to expose this nexus.
The delegation included Former Minister Manoranjan Kalia, MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan, General Secretary BJP Punjab Parminder Brar, & Jagmohan Singh Raju, President OBC morcha Punjab BJP Amarpal Singh Bonny Ajnala, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna, Rajbir Sharma & Incharge State cells BJP Punjab Ranjam Kamra; State Media Head BJP Punjab Vineet Joshi and Gejja Ram Valmiki.
Terming it as an avoidable tragedy, the delegation said that the quotas distributed under the Liquor Policy introduced by aap in Punjab 2022 on lines of Delhi Excise Policy must also be probed to ascertain who got the illegal benefits and to what extent. This can be done through Stock registers which must be inspected to find out the truth of Liquor Policy, the Memorandum said.
A probe into the quantum of Foreign Liquor Quota permitted and lifted by Liquor Contractors of Punjab each year since July 2022 has also been sought.
Responding to a query, Jakhar said while referring to the CBI investigation into the Delhi Excise Policy, raids were conducted in Punjab too as part of CBI probe and demanded that the ongoing CBI enquiry must be speeded up to conclude so that role of Punjab aap leaders could also be brought before public and guilty be brought to justice. "NCB must also be roped in to ascertain illegal proceeds and the ambit of this CBI enquiry must be widen to include Amritsar Hooch Tragedy", Jakhar added.
The Memorandum also demanded a probe into aap's Delhi based leaders having been allowed official houses in Chandigarh under which official post and capacity and also about their presence in official government meetings.
In another related matter, the delegation also demanded a probe into the mysterious disappearance of Harpreet Singh alias Harry who was sentenced for Life imprisonment in FIR no 120, u/s 302 and 120-B IPC , dated 12/12/15 at P.S Bahavwala along with a liquor contractor. Harry has been booked in another FIR no.116/23 in NDPS sections was registered at P.S Nathana, Bathinda for a huge recovery of Heroine smuggled via Pakistan with the help of ISI. Harry has since then mysteriously disappeared after getting bail for his Harnia operation.
The Memorandum also raised the demand for a probe into the meteoric rise in the properties of MLAs, Ministers & their 1st relatives during the three year regime of AAP in Punjab.
