AMRITSAR: Combining the Ramayana with the name of Guru Gobind Singh has hurt Sikh sentiments. These words were uttered by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Chief Secretary Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami in a press statement issued from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee office.
He said that Dasam Patshah Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji did not write any Ramayana but some people were hurting Sikh sentiments by associating Ramayana with his name.
He said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Dasam Granth has mentioned one of the twenty four eternal incarnations of Ramavatar in the section with twenty four incarnations.
He said that only the characters in it are delightful, but the constitution, details and form of war are completely different.
He said that while laying the foundation stone of Ram Mandir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned the Ramayana written by the Tenth Patshah, which was strongly opposed by Sikh institutions and scholars.
Chief Secretary SGPC also demanded an immediate ban on the book and appealed to the sangat to be vigilant.
