AMRITSAR: School of Law, Khalsa University, Amritsar (KUA), in collaboration with the Bar Council of England & Wales, organised an International Legal Conference on “Global Legal Ethics: UK Perspectives” at Sardar Sunder Singh Majithia Hall. Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences, welcomed the international and Indian delegates and other distinguished guests.
The introductory speech was given by Suvir Sidhu, member of the Bar Council of India. He stressed that a steadfast commitment to legal ethics and professional responsibility is essential to the maintenance of societal trust and the pursuit of justice. The keynote speaker of the conference was Barbara Mills, King's Counsel and Chair of the Bar Council of England and Wales. She emphasized that an independent Bar focuses on intellectual detachment from the causes of its clients and is not influenced by political or other external agendas.
