International Divyang Day celebrated at Nawanshahr

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar 08 December (Gurpreet Vasu / Raj Kumar) Social Security Department in association with Health Department at Civil Hospital Nawanshahr today organized a function dedicated to International Diwang Day. Inder Mohan Gupta, Civil Surgeon, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar was the Chief Guest.

He gave a detailed account of the work and services being done at the health department level for the welfare of the disabled and also congratulated the children who have been honored for their special achievements in various fields. Students of Sardar Tara Singh Kahma Red Cross School for Special Children performed a cultural program and a welcome song on the occasion. On this occasion in collaboration with various departments medical camps for the disabled, U.D.I.D. Registration Camp and Employment Registration Camp. On this occasion Mrs. Santosh Virdi District Social Security Officer Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar informed about the welfare schemes being run by the Social Security Department in relation to the Divyangajans and the Divyangajan children participating in the program were commended. Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, District Employment and Origin Officer, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in his address apprised about the work being done by the department in terms of employment for the disabled. Among the Divyangajans present at the event, 6 children and 4 other Divyangajans who have achieved outstanding achievements in various fields such as sports, music and other special activities were specially honored. During the camp, three cases were registered for employment registration, four for Divyangajan pension and one for UDI. 24 cases were received for making the card.
