AMRITSAR: Mr Manjit Singh Bhoma, General Secretary and Spokesperson of Shiromani Akali Dal (United), has said that if after 31 years the assassin of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Perarivalan (LTTE) can be released then why Sikh prisoners are not being released under the same law?

He said that just as the Tamil Nadu government had passed a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to release the accused of Rajiv Gandhi, the Supreme Court had interpreted the law on the basis of that resolution and accordingly released the assassins of Rajiv Gandhi.
He asked the Punjab Chief Minister not to shed crocodile tears over the release of prisoners but to pass a resolution in the Punjab Assembly for the release of Sikh prisoners lodged in jails for political reasons.
Bhoma said Kejriwal should also pass a resolution in the Delhi Assembly for the release of the Sikh detainees.
He said that minorities in India were now being made to feel slavery in the country in a conspiratorial and planned manner.
Mr Bhoma further said that As the polls approach, minorities are being branded as extremists and separatists. Even after the release of the convicted Singhs, the governments and the majority have started calling the Sikhs extremists. Which is very unfortunate for the country.
He said that from time to time the President of Shiromani Akali Dal Samyukta Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had been in talks with the Central Government for the release of the prisoners and the results were likely to come out soon.
He appealed to the Badal opposition parties to come out of the anti-Panth Badal camp and come together on the Panthic platform.
