Free travel vouchers for Home Guards

NAKODAR:Even though the Punjab chief minister office (CMO) had directed director general police (DGP) to act for free travel vouchers for
Punjab Home Guards more than two years ago but volunteers are still waiting for free bus passes.

Secretary Chief Minister office on May 24 in the year 2019, in an email message to DGP said that Dilbag Singh ‘s representation sent to the
chief minister on May 3 is sent to you in original for immediate necessary action as per government rules/policy adding that
complainant should be informed directly about the action taken.

Dilbag Singh, a social activist and a resident of Baina Pur village in a representation to the chief minister had said that the state
government, at a meeting of ministers in December 2011, approved recommendations of the cabinet committee to offer free bus travel
facility to Home Guard volunteers in roadways buses.

But the Punjab Home Guards department has not yet issued vouchers to its volunteers for free travel in roadways buses even as more than
nine years passed since the government took the decision.

Dilbag Singh that an assistant in Director General Office (home guards) had informed that finance department has refused to issue a
requisite notification in this regard adding that he has not received any information from DGP office on his representation.
