AMRITSAR: The foundation stone of the Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Memorial Complex was laid today after Ardas (prayer) at the Akali Market near Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib as a permanent memorial to the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
Initially, the construction work of four blocks has been started here, on the occasion of which prominent personalities including Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh, Executive Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj and Granthi Singh Sahib of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Baljit Singh were present today.
Speaking on the occasion, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the 350th centenary of the martyrdom of the ninth Guru is being celebrated at the national level by the SGPC with the support of Sikh organizations and Sangat and as a memorial of this centenary, this huge complex will be established in the name of the ninth Guru.
He said that in this memorial complex, along with preparing more than one thousand rooms for the Sangat, a huge parking lot, 25 halls and a market will be built. Apart from this, different blocks will be built here in the name of Bhai Matidas Ji, Bhai Satidas Ji and Bhai Dayala Ji, who were martyred with Guru Sahib.
