ROPAR: The farmers gheraoed bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut for over half an hour near Kiratpur Sahib (Bunga Sahib) on Manali-Chandigarh national highway in this district today afternoon.
Kangna Ranuat was on her way from Manali to Chandigarh airport when she was intercepted by farmers. Her car escorted by CRPF security men was stopped in the middle of the road and farmers raised slogans against her for defaming the farmer community.
According to eyewitnesses, the CRPF personnel tried to clear her way but a large number of farmers did not allow her to move. Heavy police force from Rupnagar reached the spot. She was only allowed to go after she apologised from the farmers for her comments and giving an assurance that she would not repeat it in future. It is recalled that Kangna Ranuat had called agitating farmers on Delhi borders, the Khalistanis.
SSP Rupnagar Vivek Soni confirmed the incident and said that police reached the spot immediately after getting information and get Kangna Ranaut released from blockade by farmers.
