AMRITSAR: Amidst the skyrocketing slogans of Khalistan Zindabad, the death anniversary of Bhai Beant Singh was observed at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga near Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Bhai Beant Singh, one of the veterans who punished the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her misdeeds in the June 1984 military attack on the Akal Takht, was martyred in retaliation on October 31.
Giani Rajdeep Singh, Granthi Singh Sri Darbar Sahib, was specially present during a special and impressive function held at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga Sahib near Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
On this occasion, Bhai Gurwinder Singh Anandpuri's ragi jatha performed kirtan and Bhai Baljit Singh offered prayers. Mr. Bhagwant Singh Sialka, General Secretary, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Mr. Bhai Manjit Singh, Member, Mr. Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, Member, Dharam Prachar, Mr. Malkit Singh Bahirwal, Superintendent, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Agwan from the family of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh, Panthic Scholar and Leader of Khalistani Movement Leader Bhai Narain Singh Chaura, Paramjit Singh Mand of Dal Khalsa, Khalistani thinker Sarabjit Singh Ghuman, Bhai Mohkam Singh of Akali Dal United, Jarnail Singh Sakhira, Convener of Sarbat Khalsa, Additional Manager of Darbar Sahib Mr. Baghel Singh, Manager Nishan Singh Akali Dal Bibi Gurdeep Kaur Chattha of Amritsar etc. were present. Speaking to reporters, Giani Malkit Singh, Head Granthi Singh Sahib of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, said that these great martyrs put an end to tyranny by punishing the tyrant for his deeds.
Bhai Manjit Singh, a member of the Shormani Committee, paid homage to the martyrs and saluted them for their lives. On this occasion Bhai Narain Singh Chaura said that these Singhs told the world that it is permissible to take up arms when all means are gone. These Singhs filled the nation with emotion. The words of religion became blasphemous. Those who thought that the pride and greed of the Sikhs had been destroyed were rebuked. This deed of these Singhs is a golden chapter of history. On this occasion, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Agwan and Bhai Manjit Singh from among the martyred families were honored with titles.
