DSGMC open PET Scan Centre at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka today dedicated to the people PET Scan Centre at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib located Guru Harkishan Polyclinic. Before the formal dedication of the facility for the early detection of Cancer disease, DSGMC office bearers led by S. Kalka performed ardaas at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

The PET Scan Centre according to S. Kalka has been launched on a day (June 6) coinciding with Operation Bluestar 41 years ago in 1984 at Sri Darbar Sahib Complex, Amritsar when highest temporal seat of the Sikhs Shri Akal Takht Sahib was damaged in the action of the then Government.

The launch of the PET Scan Centre is also a tribute to the martyrs of 21ST century who have been martyred by the highhandedness of the powers that be.“We work on the path shown by our Gurus to serve the humanity. that Sikhs are a peace loving and secular community who dedicate life towards the service of humanity even when they are made to suffer and forced to undergo pain, ” said S. Kalka while speaking at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib after the Ardaas was performed to mark dedication of the PET Scan facility.

On the occasion S. Kalka informed that the bare minimum cost will be charged for the Scan which goes into conducting the test. “I pray to the almighty that the need should not arise to use the machine, because the trauma that a family undergo when any member is diagnosed with the unfortunate disease is tremendous and unbearable, ” Said S. Kalka. He announced that people from all walks of life and ethnic groups irrespective of their caste and creed can avail the services at the poly clinic.

Kalka also thanked Baba Bachan Singh and Baba Satnam Singh Kar Sewa Waley, who have built the infrastructure for PET Scan Centre. DSGMC President also informed that the cost of machine is Rs. 10 crore which has been donated by a family.

“I was asked by a number of prominent persons from our community that why June 6 - the day of Ghalughara (massacre) at Shri Darbar Sahib in 1984 has been fixed for the launch of Scan Machines, to which I said it is a message to the people living across the countries that, more the Sikhs are suppressed higher they bounce back, but do not forget the service towards humanity, ” S. Kalka further said.

Kalka also appreciated the efforts by former President of DSGMC S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa who presently a Cabinet Minister in Delhi government for starting free dialysis facility, reasonable MRI Scan and other test for the treatment of economically challenged at the polyclinic.

DSGMC General Secretary S. Jagdeep Singh Kahlon also spoke on the occasion. Later speaking on the occasion S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the facility provided in the polyclinic goes a long way in serving the humanity. “I am glad that the initiative started during my tenure is expanding and more and more numbers of getting benefitted, ” he said.
