CHANDIGARH: Senior Akali leader and former IAS officer Darbara Singh Guru has resigned from all posts and primary membership of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD). He addressed his two line resignation to SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Darbara Singh Guru was one of the most loyal IAS officers to the Badal family. He worked as principal Secretary to former CM Parkash Singh Badal from 2007 to 2011. He had joined SAD after superannuation from service.

He has also resigned from post of Member Secretary, Sri Guru Granth sahib Fourth Centenary Memorial Trust.

It is learnt that Guru was sidelined by Badal family and he was upset from behaviour of Sukhbir Badal. Guru was interested to become Chief Secretary of SGPC but Sukhbir Badal refused to accomodate him. He was then promised party ticket from Bassi Pathana seat but it was given to BSP. Guru had lost the 2017 assembly election from Bassi Pathana and later Lok Sabha poll from Fatehgarh Sahib.

The resignation of Darbara Singh Guru is also an indication of declining clout of Parkash Singh Badal and taking over of full control of party affairs by Sukhbir Badal.
