MOGA: Congress held its ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’ in Moga and Patti on Friday, led by Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, who launched a fierce attack on both the BJP and AAP, accusing them of weakening the Constitution and compromising Punjab’s law and order.
Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic Congress workers, Bajwa declared, “Today, the Constitution is under siege. The BJP wants to rewrite the very document that gave rights and dignity to the poor, Dalits, backward classes, and minorities. And in Punjab, AAP is playing second fiddle to BJP—looting the state while shielding gangsters and criminals.”
Bajwa didn’t hold back in accusing the BJP of misusing national institutions. “From the ED and CBI to the Election Commission, every agency is now a weapon against Opposition leaders. Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, DK Shivakumar, and Bhupesh Baghel have all been targeted only because they challenge the BJP’s dictatorship, but Congress workers don’t loose morale.
The rally was also attended by PPCC chief Raja Warring, former CM Charanjit Singh Channi, and other prominent Congress leaders, who echoed Bajwa’s concerns. The leaders collectively warned that both AAP and BJP pose a dual threat—one to the Constitution, the other to Punjab’s peace.
Bajwa also laid out a series of concerns around Dalit rights. “While BJP talks about Dalit pride, its actions tell a different story, ” he said. “Manual scavenging deaths continue, PSU privatization is wiping out reserved jobs, and caste-based violence is rising across the country. According to NCRB data, SC/ST atrocities are increasing while conviction rates are falling.”
