CHANDIGARH: Congress high command is unlikely to accomodate MLA and former minister Navjot Sidhu Sidhu on the post of PPCC president. Capt Amarinder Singh camp has strongly resisted giving Sidhu post of PPCC president.

The party reported to have given him to choose one option from Deputy CM or Chairman of Campaign committee. Sidhu understood to have rejected both the offers. The party high command is in final round of talks with Navjot Sidhu and Capt Amarinder Singh.

The sources said that if Sidhu is not accomodated, he might resign from Congress party to look for other options before him. The only viable option before him would be Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is keeping its announcement of CM candidate pending. AAP has also kept its doors open for Sidhu, in case he decides to join them.

When Arvind Kejriwal last month visited Amritsar in Punjab, he had given a hint that AAP will brought a prominant Sikh face as Chief Minister. Later Sidhu had endorsed Kejriwal's announcement of giving 300 units per household free of cost, saying, it is possible if there is political will.

Sidhu who is claiing he has his own vision for Punjab's development, today tweeted that AAP understands his vision of Punjab. It sparked a political debate about Sidhu's inc;ination towards AAP.

The senior Congress leaders have clealy told the party high command that prty shall contest 2022 assembly elections under the leadrship of Capt Amarinder Singh. The three member panel constituted by AICC president Sonia Gandhi has failed to give clear decision on the spat between Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Sidhu. It is learnt that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are inclined to accomodate Sidhu as PPCC president but senior party leaders have suggested it wuld be disastrous act for party before before the 2022 elections due in January.

Sidhu is not interested to work under Capt Amarinder Singh whioch is said to be reason behind Sidhu's refusal to accept the offer. Sidhu was member of Captain Amarinder and both remained on loggerheads on policy issues. Sidhu had drafted mining policy which was not implemented by Capt Amarinder Government. Sidhu also differed with Capt Amarinder on issue of dealing with drug, cable and transport mafias patronised by Badal family. Sidhu also raised issue of manhandling of cases of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

It is leaarnt that Sonia Gandhi is not keen to remove Capt Amarinder Singh but she is ready to change the PPCC president. Some new faces may also be added to Capt Amarinder cabinet and reshuffling of fes portfoflios is also on the cards during this week.
