Congress leaders resolve to return party to power in Punjab

Both central, state governments let down Punjab: Warring
HOSHIARPUR: Senior Punjab Congress today resolved that they will ensure that the party returns to power in the state in the 2027 assembly elections. They said in unanimous voice that whosoever is nominated as the Chief Minister by the party high command, will be acceptable to everyone.

Addressing a party rally here today, leaders including the PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and others said that to save Punjab from the parties like the AAP, the BJP and the Akali Dal, it was important to form the Congress government in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Warring said that the AAP government had shattered the dreams of people by breaking all the promises. He said, people of Punjab believed the AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann that they will usher in change, but what they got was misgovernance and lawlessness.

Warring said that no investor was prepared to invest in Punjab as they were feeling threatened and unsafe with regular and frequent demands for ransom from the gangsters. He said, not a single penny was being invested in Punjab, with the result there were no jobs. He said, Punjab had accrued a debt of Rs 4.5 lakh crores so far.

He said, while the traders and businessmen in Punjab were not ready to invest in Punjab, they were investing in states like Madhya Pradesh. He said, the MP Chief Minister traveled all the way to Ludhiana and went away with investments worth Rs 15, 000 crores.

The PCC president also took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s public outreach programme regarding schemes like Rs 300 to people or Rs 6000 a year to farmers. He said farmers do not need any doles, but proper MSP for their crops.
He challenged the BJP leaders to name a single project that the BJP and the Prime Minister Modi had given to Punjab. He expressed apprehensions that the BJP government would do away with the MSP of the crops which can spell doom for Punjab’s economy which is centered around agriculture.

Warring also cautioned the Congress leaders and workers to beware of ‘vote chori’ (voter theft) that the BJP has started across the country. HE urged Congress leaders to regularly check the electoral rolls to ensure that their votes are not deleted like in Bihar where the BJP had deleted 60 lakh votes.

Warring also strongly opposed the Punjab AAP government’s policy to sell off government land under the ‘Optimum Utilisation of Vacant Government Lands’ (OUVGL). He said, after being forced to withdraw the ‘land looting scheme’ through the ‘land pooling’, the Aam Aadmi Party government has now come out with another idea of “selling the family silver” to make up for the huge financial losses it has subjected the state to, through this scheme.

“This only proves that the AAP government has proved to be an economic and financial disaster for Punjab and pushed the state towards bankruptcy. You only sell the family silver once you have turned completely bankrupt after exhausting/squandering away or other resources”, he observed.

Present among others were PCC President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, CLP Leader Partap Singh Bajwa, former Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former MLA Barindermeet Singh Pahra, Kulbir Singh Zira, Indu Bala, and Sarabjot Singh Sabi.
