PHAGWARA: The district administration’s flood rescue teams demonstrated remarkable efficiency and dedication by saving the life of 78-year-old farmer Balwinder Singh in Mand Bhandu Kadaam village on Saturday morning.
The septuagenarian experienced uneasiness and chest pain amid flood conditions, prompting a swift response from the administration following a distress call around 7 am on Saturday.
The rescue team promptly evacuated Balwinder Singh from the flood-affected area and transported him to a medical camp in Lakh Variya village in ambulance.
After receiving primary treatment for high blood pressure and other symptoms, he was shifted to Sultanpur Lodhi Civil Hospital for further care. According to Civil Surgeon Dr. Harpal Singh, the patient is now stable, with his condition steadily improving.
Gurdas Singh, the son of Balwinder Singh, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the administration, stating, “The quick help provided by the rescue teams saved my father’s life. The family is deeply thankful for their efforts, he added.
SDM Alka Kalia highlighted the administration’s rapid response, noting that an alert was sounded immediately upon receiving the distress call, enabling prompt action.
Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal praised the rescue teams for their commendable work and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance to residents during this crisis. He also said that the Disaster management unit at Sultanpur Lodhi civil hospital has been set up to tackle any kind of medical emergency.
