AMRITSAR: Slamming the 'AAP' government, Brahmpura states, "Abandoning flood victims is the greatest sin."
New Role in SAD, Brahmpura Pays Obeisance: Seeks blessings for the party and offers prayers for flood-stricken families at the Gurudwara of Baba Surjan Sahib Ji.
Tarn Taran Aug 31, 2025: ( ) Shiromani Akali Dal leader Ravinder Singh Brahmpura on Sunday demanded separate funds under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) for flood prevention and urged the Centre to announce a special economic package for flood-affected areas of Punjab.
After being reappointed as the party's Vice President, Brahmpura paid obeisance at the Gurudwara of Baba Surjan Sahib Ji in Shahbazpur village, Khadoor Sahib. Addressing a gathering of party workers and residents, he said his new role motivates him to be a stronger voice for the people of his constituency, especially those impacted by the recent floods.
Brahmpura appealed to the Central Government for an immediate economic package for the flood-hit regions, with a focus on the Khadoor Sahib border area. Citing the "slow performance" of the state government, he insisted that the financial aid should be sent directly to farmers' accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Slamming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state, Brahmpura alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet were absent when people were struggling with the floods. "Abandoning the people in their hour of crisis is the greatest sin for any government. The AAP government has betrayed the people of Punjab, and history will never forgive their insensitivity, " he said.
A number of party leaders were present on the occasion, including Zila Parishad Member Gian Singh Shahbazpur, Core Committee Member Gursewak Singh Sekh, Sarpanch Gurnam Singh Bhure, and SC Wing District President Bakhshish Singh Dial Rajputan, along with several other former sarpanches and local functionaries. - ENDS -
