Demands to fix responsibility of high ups, compensation of Rs.25 lakh, job for kin of victims and time bound judicial probe
NEW DELHI: Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Minister of state for Railways and Food Processing today blamed the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi drug mafia running illegal trade in Punjab for the Hooch tragedy in Majitha sub didicion in Amritsar district, claiming the lives of 16 innocent persons.
In a statement here Mr. Bittu said that crores of public funds were spent on so called 'Youdh Nashian Virudh' campaign but the drug menace is going on unabated. He demanded to fix responsibility of high ups in police and civil administration for the illegal illicit liquor trade. Bhagwant Mann government can't escape responsibility with suspending DSP and SHO of the area. He said that ministers in the Mann cabinet were hand in glove with the drug mafia, operated with the blessings of Delhi AAP leaders.
Mr.Bittu demanded a compensation of Rs.25 lakh to kin of each of victim, job for a family member and time bound judicial probe into the hooch tragedy. He said that it was unbelievable that Police high ups were not aware of the illicit liquor mafia operating in the border districts. He said that same situation prevailed in other districts and people were dying due to political patronage to drug lords.
Union Minister said that a false narrative of war on drugs was created by Bulldozer justice and demolishing houses of poor people including small scale peddlers and consumers. he said that the CM, ministers and DGP were making huge claims of eliminating drugs from Punjab by end of May 2025. He said that Bhagwant Mann himself is an addict and expecting from him to eliminate drugs is meaningless.
Mr.Bittu told the Chief Minister that there was no use of crying over the spilled milk. He should own the full responsibility for the hooch tragedy and step down from his post.
