AMRITSAR:  Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday asked four dissident ministers why they were writing to chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to entreat him to make Batala a district if they did not have faith in his leadership.

Bikram Majithia assured that the SAD led government would make Batala a district after coming to power.

Giving his reaction to the Muzzafarnagar Kisan rally, Mr Majithia said “the farming community has given a clear signal to the central leadership in Delhi that it should be ready to face a people’s movement if it does not listen to the voice of the farmers”. He appealed to political parties in Punjab to also rise to the occasion and not use the flag of the Kisan movement for their petty political ends. “This will only result in spoiling the atmosphere of the State and give an opportunity to the BJP central government to impose President’s Rule in the State”. He urged all political parties to work unitedly to ensure the repeal of the three agriculture laws.

While talking  to media  persons here on Monday  Mr Majithia said it seemed the party which stood to benefit the most had got a recent survey conducted in its favour in Punjab.

In a reply  to a question , the SAD leader said the manner in which the Jallianwala Bagh memorial had been beautified instead of being preserved in its original state was disrespectful to the memory of the martyrs.

Prominent  among those who joined SAD included Congressmen Mandeep Singh, Paramjit Singh, Ranjit Singh, Baldev Singh, Balwinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Ranjit Singh, Baljit Singh, Rajinder Singh and Gurmukh Singh – all from Nangali Jandiala. AAP leader Sarnail Singh joined from Tarsika and BJP leaders - Baby Bhagar, vice president, SC Morcha, Gurdaspur and Bhagwan Das, Member Executive joined from Dinanagar.

SAD leader was addressing media here on Monday after a welcoming a host of Congress leaders including the chairperson of the Tirsika block samiti – Paramjit Kaur into the party fold. Paramjit Kaur represents the constituency of Pradesh Congress Working President Sukhwinder Danny. Senior BJP leaders also joined the SAD on the occasion.

He said the planners should have taken inspiration from memorials in other countries which had been preserved to depict the stark reality of the time.

He said  that Punjab Pradesh  Congress  Committee (PPCC) President  Mr Navjot Sidhu had exposed himself by failing to move a no confidence motion against the chief minister. “We had all along claimed that he was fighting for the chair and has no interests in the issues of the people which were proved during the course of the assembly session”.
