Anureet Pal Kaur Honoured with ‘Aparajita 2026’ Award in Kolkata
KOLKATA: Celebrating and saluting the strength and achievements of women, the Sanmarg Aparajita 2026 awards ceremony, organised by Bengal Energy, was held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Kolkata. The prestigious ceremony honoured seven distinguished women from across India who have made a mark in different fields through their exceptional contributions and achievements.
Among the seven awardees, Anureet Pal Kaur from Punjab and Chandigarh was selected for the Music Jury Aparajita 2026 Award for her remarkable contribution to Punjabi folk music and traditional folk instruments. Anureet Pal Kaur is the daughter of renowned theatre personality and Actor Narinder Nina and Actress Sukhbeer Pal.

Anureet Pal Kaur has dedicated an important part of her life to the Algoza, a traditional Punjabi folk instrument that is gradually disappearing from mainstream musical traditions. She is the only disciple of internationally acclaimed Algoza maestro Late Ustad Karamjit Singh Bagga Ji. Through her dedication and musical journey, she has played an important role in preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Punjabi folk instruments.
Her achievements have also earned her a place in the India Book of Records. She has been honoured with the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by the Government of India, besides receiving several other recognitions for her contribution to music and folk traditions.
The Aparajita 2026 honour is not only a significant personal achievement for Anureet Pal Kaur but also a matter of pride for Punjab and the entire Punjabi folk music tradition. Her recognition highlights the importance of preserving the traditional folk instruments and musical heritage of Punjab while inspiring a new generation, particularly women, to carry this rich legacy forward.
