AMRITSAR: Regarding the release of the animation film 'Hind Di Chadar' made on the life of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Chief Secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Kulwant Singh Mannan, has asked the producer and director of the film not to release it in view of Sikh sentiments.

Mannan said that this film made by Baweja Movie Private Limited on the life of the ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji has many shortcomings in terms of Sikh doctrine, history and filmmaking, in view of which, on the orders of the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has sent a letter to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and ordered not to release this film on 21 November 2025.

He said that in the light of the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the decision to release the film should be withdrawn.

He said that after watching this film, the Film Ghokh Committee had sent a report to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, on which the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib had sent a letter regarding the ban.

Kulwant Singh Mannan said that it is prohibited to depict the Gurus in any way through fiction or animation and doing so is a violation of Sikh principles and the orders issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that when there is a ban on playing characters related to the Gurus and their families, then one should hesitate before making such films.

He said that besides hurting Sikh sentiments, they also create controversy.

He said that when the Sikh community is celebrating the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, it is in no way permissible to release an animation film related to Guru Sahib, deviating from Sikh principles.
