All schools and colleges in Amritsar district to remain closed tomorrow due to incessant rain

AMRITSAR: In view of the incessant rains in the district, Additional District Magistrate cum Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rohit Gupta has issued orders to close all educational institutions, schools, colleges etc. in the district tomorrow, August 27.

Giving details of the current situation, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rohit Gupta said that 14 villages of Ajnala constituency have been put on high alert as a precaution due to the possibility of increase in the water level of the Ravi river during the next 12 hours.

He said that the situation of the Beas river is stable at present, but continuous monitoring is being maintained.

He said that the district administration is monitoring the situation arising due to the rains across the district. All teams are working and 24-hour alert is being maintained in view of the 48-hour weather warning.

He said that for any query or to report flood-related information, the phone number 0183-2229125, which is the number of the flood control room, can be contacted.

He asked the district residents not to believe in rumours and to remain alert.
