Maximum hydro generation at power houses amidst heavy water releases

CHANDIGARH: The maximum possible generation continues at hydro power houses of Bhakra , Ranjit Sagar and Pong Dam amidst heavy water releases in rivers due to heavy inflow of water in reservoirs.

The water release from Ranjit Sagar Dam is around 84000 cusecs, from Bhakra Dam 60000 cusecs and 65000 cusecs from Pong Dam flooding many parts of Punjab alongside Beas, Sutlej and Ravi rivers.

The Ranjit Sagar is generating 146 lakh units ( LU) with all the four machines running at full load round the clock.The average generation was 608 MW. At Bhakra the generation is 337 LU with maximum generation of 1425 MW and average generation of day was 1405 MW. The Pong Power house is operating all the six units with generation of 85.5 LU. The maximum and average generation on Monday was 360 MW .

The water level in Ranjit sagar Dam is 527, 2 meters (1729.6 feet )an increase of 0.4 meters ( 1 foot) in one day from level of 526.78 (1728.8 feet) meters .The water inflow has also increased to more than 109150 cusecs while it was 101500 cusecs day before.

The water level at Bhakra Dam is 1670.5 feet, an increase of 2.5 feet from yesterday's level of 1668.2 . The inflow at Bhakra is 867000 cusecs today and it was 59300 cusecs yesterday.

At Pong the water level is 1387.3 feet, an increase of 3.6 feet in one day. The inflow is 109150 cusecs and it was 91400 cusecs a day before.
