AMRITSAR: Taking note of the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to create fake videos related to Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has termed it as a violation of Sikh sentiments and demanded an immediate ban on such a phenomenon from the governments.
In a statement issued SGPC Headquarters , Advocate Dhami said that such videos created using AI technology are not only a violation of the basic principles of Sikhism, but are also an act that hurts global religious sensitivities.
He said that Sri Darbar Sahib is the central place of the Sikh community, from where the entire humanity gets the message of universality, but the wrong approach of some people hurts the sentiments of the devotees.
The SGPC President said that it is a matter of regret that AI technology is being misused.
He said that it is the responsibility of the governments' cyber crime cells to make concerted efforts to stop such cases.
He said that the SGPC has already reached out to various platforms regarding cases of giving wrong information about Gurbani, Sikh history and Gurmat on AI platforms and many videos have been reported and removed.
Advocate Dhami said that this is a very serious matter. The Shiromani Committee will soon hold a meeting to seek the cooperation of people and organizations working in this field to stop such acts that hurt religious sentiments.
The SGPC Chief also appealed to the Government of India to take necessary steps to show seriousness regarding this serious issue and to stop this behavior by making a solid policy.
Advocate Dhami has expressed concern that some people are posting such videos on their pages to tell that this is wrong, which is even more saddening.
He appealed to those people that instead of spreading such videos, they should report them to stop it.
