AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has strongly condemned the gross desecration of the sacred bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Mahla of Jalandhar, terming it as a failure of the Punjab government in its law and order and responsibility towards the state.
Advocate Dhami said that the continuous increase in the incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the past years is a matter of great concern. The current Punjab government has failed to stop them and has not been able to take any exemplary action against the perpetrators who have come forward in most of the incidents, which is a manifestation of a deep hurt to the sentiments of Sikhs.
He said that the recent incident of tearing apart the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Mahla of Jalandhar is a direct challenge to Sikh sentiments. This incident also seems to be part of a bigger conspiracy, because the cameras installed in the Gurdwara Sahib here were also turned off.
He said that it is sad that the government is not taking any serious notice of the sacrileges and the cases of such incidents are continuously increasing.
