PHAGWARA: In a proactive move to ensure seamless and safe celebrations of the upcoming Chhath Puja, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. Akshita Gupta (IAS) on Thursday conducted an extensive review of the ongoing preparations at the Urban Estate Canal in Phagwara. The visit underscored the district administration’s commitment to upholding both cultural reverence and civic responsibility during major public events.
During the inspection, Dr. Gupta assessed arrangements related to cleanliness, lighting, sanitation, crowd management, and safety measures. She interacted with officials from various departments and issued directions to expedite all pending works to ensure a smooth experience for the devotees. The ADC stressed that inter-departmental coordination and timely execution were crucial to maintaining the sanctity and safety of the occasion.
Accompanied by Superintendent of Police Madhvi Sharma, Mayor Rampal Uppal, and Halka Incharge (AAP) Harji Maan, Dr. Gupta reviewed the preparedness on the ground and discussed steps to streamline the management of large gatherings expected during the festival. She instructed officials to ensure proper lighting along the canal, installation of barricades, and deployment of adequate security personnel and volunteers to regulate the movement of devotees.
