Accused of sacrilege will not be spared-Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh

AMRITSAR: Giani Harpreet Singh said that those who insulted Guru Granth Sahib will not be spared at any cost. He said that no politics should be played on this issue but mobilized to get the accused severely punished.

He said that no justice could be expected from the government yet the SGPC has been directed to take necessary steps to ensure action against the culprits of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

While talking to media persons at Akal Takht Secretariat Giani Harpreet Singh said that said that Bibi Jagir Kaur was very kind and she was determined to punish the culprits of indecency. He appealed to the entire Panth to form a joint mobilization to identify the culprits of these heinous crimes and punish them as soon as possible.

Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib convened a meeting of various Panthic Organizations to discuss the issue of indecency. Ranjit Singh Khatra also addressed the gathering.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting of various Sikh organisations held at basement of Akal Takht here today. Including
various Nihang Singh organizations, Panthic organizations and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Bibi Jagir Kaur.

After the meeting, Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Harpreet Singh said that a joint resolution
has been passed on the issue of disrespect to Guru Granth Sahib. .

All the sects and scholars who participated in the gathering assured the Akal Takht that they would go to all the villages and towns under the auspices of the Akal Takht to spread the word about the Guru Granth and Guru to the disaffected youth. Connect with the Panth and strive to adopt Bani and Bani. Every effort will be made to curb the growing proselytizing activities.

Giani Harpreet Singh termed the incident of indecency on the arrival of the Chief Minister at Gurdwara Nanakmata in Uttarakhand as unfortunate and said that a three member team has been constituted by the Akal Takht to investigate the incident. Investigate and report, those found guilty will be severely punished.

He said that the perpetrators of any incident of indecency would not be spared.

Talking about the congratulations of Navjot Singh Sidhu on becoming the President of PPCC by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, he said that there was nothing wrong with it and by congratulating him he has not violated any kind of manners and principles.
