Blackout practice will be done tomorrow night from 10 pm to 10.30 pm
AMRITSAR: Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Mrs. Sakshi Sahni informed that in view of the instructions issued by the Government of India, a drill is being conducted on May 7 to deal with any emergency situation, under which a siren will sound tomorrow at 4 pm, which will symbolize the notification of an air strike. Blackout practice will be done tomorrow night from 10 pm to 10.30 pm. During the blackout, all the lights of the city will be switched off.
She said that whenever such a siren sounds tomorrow or thereafter, the general public is expected to get out of high buildings as soon as they hear this sound and reach some ground or ground-based location, if they do not have a roof there, then they should sit under a tree. People who will be living in buildings should stay away from windows and especially glass.
She said that during this time, pedestrians or vehicles moving on the road should immediately give way to emergency vehicles, which may include fire engines or ambulances.
She said that these are being played by the Civil Defence for practice, so that their functionality and sound can be checked. He said that there is no need to panic in any way during this.
She said that a similar blackout practice will be done tomorrow night from 10 pm to 10.30 pm. During the blackout, all the lights of the city will be switched off and the people of the city are also appealed to keep the inverters or generators in their homes switched off during this time. If for some reason they have to keep them switched on, then they should operate their lights in such a way that their light does not go out of the window or door.
Apart from this, CCTV cameras or solar lights, which automatically switch on when the light gets dark, should also be switched off during this time, so that complete darkness appears in the city.
During this time, if a vehicle is driving on the road, it should turn off its lights, pull off the road, and stop on a dirt road.
