1217 Donors Participate in Hindostan Club’s Mega Blood Donation Camp in Phagwara

PHAGWARA: In a remarkable demonstration of social responsibility and humanitarian spirit, as many as 1, 217 youths came forward to donate blood at the 31st annual mega blood donation camp organized by the Hindostan Welfare Blood Donors Society at Maharaja Palace, Phagwara. The event turned into a massive movement of compassion, with young volunteers thronging the venue to contribute towards saving precious lives.

The camp was inaugurated by former Union Minister Som Parkash, who hailed the overwhelming participation of youth and described the donors as the “real champions of humanity.” Under the stewardship of Society President Pandit Rahul Sharma, the initiative once again underscored the Society’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. Certificates of appreciation were distributed to all donors, acknowledging their selfless contribution.

The gathering drew several prominent dignitaries, including Mrs. Anita Som Parkash, AAP District President Gurmeet Singh Lubana, former Minister Joginder Singh Mann, Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, and Hoshiarpur Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, who lauded the Society for sustaining a noble tradition of community service. Former Civil Surgeon Dr. Kailash Kapoor, General Secretary Vitin Puri, Vikram Gupta, Neeraj Bakhshi, Harjinder Gogna, Gopal Loomba, N.K. Sharma, Lucky Bhakhri, Naresh Kohli, Dr. Anju, Ranbir Kumar, Prem Gupta, Jugnu Sharma, Jivan Chaudhary, former councillor Kulwinder Kinda, and Pritpal Kaur Tuli were also present, adding weight to the occasion with their support.

Addressing the gathering, Som Parkash praised the Hindostan Welfare Blood Donors Society for motivating the younger generation to take up humanitarian service with zeal and dedication. He said the sight of hundreds of youths voluntarily coming forward to donate blood was both inspiring and reassuring for society. Speakers at the event echoed his sentiments, calling the donors “true social heroes” who not only save lives but also set an example of compassion and responsibility for others to follow.

With 1, 217 units of blood collected in a single day, the camp stood out as one of the largest in the region, reaffirming the Society’s role as a beacon of selfless service. The overwhelming success of the initiative reflected not just the organizational strength of the Society but also the deep-rooted culture of volunteerism among the youth of Phagwara and surrounding areas.

The annual mega camp, now in its 31st year, has grown into a movement of humanity, uniting people across social and political lines in the mission to save lives. As dignitaries departed and certificates were handed out, the dominant sentiment remained one of gratitude and pride – gratitude for the thousands of lives that will be saved through this effort, and pride in a generation that continues to uphold the spirit of service above self.
