TARN TARAN: A high-power committee constituted by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal to assess the plight of flood-affected families today visited several villages in the Khadoor Sahib constituency under the leadership of senior leader and former Cabinet Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka. The committee, led locally by constituency incharge and former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, interacted with affected farmers and villagers to gather details of the damage.
Speaking to reporters, Maluka said, “As per the directions of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal, we came here to witness the ground situation. It is shocking to see that the AAP government is completely missing from the scene and people have been left to suffer on their own. There is an urgent need for fodder for livestock, repair of breached embankments, diesel for reconstruction work, seeds for the next crop, and fogging to prevent the spread of diseases.”He added that 16, 500 acres of cropland in the constituency had been completely devastated and demanded that the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government immediately announce adequate compensation for the victims.
Former MLA Brahmpura expressed gratitude to the SAD president for promptly sending the committee and said that the requirements of flood-hit families in the constituency had been detailed to the visiting delegation. He lauded the inclusion of senior leaders such as Sikandar Singh Maluka, Gulzar Singh Ranike, and Mantar Singh Brar in the panel, expressing confidence that relief would soon reach the affected people on the basis of this report.
Among others present were senior leader Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke, SGPC member Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala, constituency president Kuldeep Singh Aulakh, Jagjit Singh Jaggi of Chohla, Satnam Singh Satta Chohla Sahib.
