AMRITSAR: Taking a decision in the public interest, the Punjab Government has given a golden opportunity to the Office Municipal Council to pay the arrears of property tax under the One Time Settlement Scheme.
Disclosing this here today Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Malwinder Singh Jaggi said that Punjab Government has issued one time settlement scheme from 15th September 2021 regarding payment of property tax arrears.
He said that property tax was levied on self assessment basis on all types of properties (residential, non-residential, industrial, shopping complexes, flats etc.) within Amritsar limits from April 30, 2013, but the owners / occupiers of some properties. The property tax office has not yet paid its dues to the Municipal Corporation.
Giving a golden opportunity in this regard, the Punjab Government has launched a one-time-settlement scheme from September 15, 2021 regarding payment of property tax arrears.
The Commissioner Municipal Corporation further said that under this scheme the amount of property tax incurred from the financial year 2013-14 to the financial year 2019-20 including interest and penalty (total outstanding amount) and the amount of property tax due from the financial year 2020-21 would be Rs. 10% relief can be availed till November 30, 2021 on lump sum deposit. Therefore, the taxpayers are urged to avail the benefit of this golden scheme of the Punjab Government by depositing the total outstanding amount of property tax arrears in a lump sum.
