The Martyrdom Day of the Ninth Guru was observed with great enthusiasm

AMRITSAR: The shaheedi diwas of ninth Guru of Sikhs Sri Guru Teg Bahadur was observed with great enthusiasm here on Sunday.

A religious diwan ( congregation) was held at Gurdwara Guru ka Mahal birth place of the Guru in which several raagi dhadis recited the gurbani kirtan.

Various preachers appealed to Sikhs to follows the teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur ji. Guru Tegh Bahadur composed many hymns that were added to the Guru Granth Sahib. He wrote the Saloks, 116 shabsds and 15 ragas.

He was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth guru. His family belonged to the Sodhi clan of Khatris. Hargobind had one daughter, Bibi Viro, and five sons: Baba Gurditta, Suraj Mal, Ani Rai, Atal Rai, and Tyag Mal.
A nagar kirtan procession was also organised by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Saturday.
A nagar kirtan led by panj piaras which was started from Akal Takht and after parading in the main bazars of city it was ended at Gurdwara Guru ka Mahal.

Meanehile according to reports from Patiala The martyrdom of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji was observed with full devotion at the ninth cantonment Budha Dal Nihang Singhan Samana. Renowned ragi jathas performed Gurbani Kirtan and narrators, dhadis connected the congregation with Gur history.

At the completion of the three-day event, Budha Dal Baba Balbir Singh Akali 96 Crore addressed and said that the ideal of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib's martyrdom was the protection of human religion, the freedom of thought and belief of the human race and its conscience. The fundamental rights of freedom were upheld.
He said that the violent policy of forced conversion adopted by the Mughal Empire at that time to bring the whole of India under the banner of Islam was a harsh one.

Talking about the concept of martyrdom, he said that the martyrdom of the ninth Guru was a new turning point in Sikh history which took place for the sake of religious, political and economic freedom.

He said that Guru Sahib's martyrdom is not only for India but also for the entire world. We also need to learn something from Guru Sahib's martyrdom.
