AMRITSAR: Taking strict notice of the Sikh girl who appeared for the Rajasthan High Court Civil Judge recruitment exam today being asked to remove her Sikh kakar kirpan and kada and not being allowed to take part in the exam, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this is a big violation of the country's constitution.

He said that strict action should be taken against the examination center officials who stopped the Gursikh girl from the exam along with her kirpan, due to whose arbitrary action a girl was deprived of the exam. Advocate Dhami said that last year also a similar incident had happened with some students in Rajasthan, on which a delegation of the Shiromani Committee had spoken to the administration there and asked them to take care that this does not happen in the future.

He said that for some time now, Sikh candidates are being targeted in the country and such incidents often come to light in which Amritdhari Sikhs are asked to remove the religious symbol Kakar and if they protest, they are not allowed to enter competitive examinations. The Shiromani Committee President termed this phenomenon as a big discrimination against Sikhs in his own country, India and said that this discrimination against Sikh candidates cannot be tolerated.

He said that despite everyone knowing that the Kirpan is part of the five pillars of Sikhism and that it represents Sikh identity and fundamental rights, it is highly condemnable to treat Sikhs with hatred. Advocate Dhami demanded the Chief Minister of the state government to intervene immediately in this matter and said that he should take strict action against the guilty officials who prevented the Sikh girl from appearing in the paper. He also demanded from the Chief Minister that the state government should make special arrangements to provide justice to the Sikh candidate who was left out of the paper due to the wrongdoing of the officials.

The Shiromani Committee President said that a delegation will soon be sent to Rajasthan by the Shiromani Committee, which will discuss the matter with the Rajasthan government and ask them to ensure strict action against the culprits.
