Power engineers observed "Black Day " on Monday against privatisation

CHANDIGARH: Power engineers across the country including Punjab, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir Uttar Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Tamilnadu. Telengana, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttrakhand today observed "Black Day " by holding demonstrations in support of Puducherry electricity workers and against the repressive attitude of the central government and Puducherry government.

PSEB Engineers Association held a protest meeting at Patiala which was addressed by Padamjit Singh Chief Patron AIPEF and other office bearers.They all opposed the privatisation process undertaken by Puducherry government and demanded immediate scrapping of the process.

In Jammu and Kashmir protest meetings were held at Srinagar, Jammu, Sopore and Poonch under the banner of JK Electrical Engineers Graduates Association. They all opposed the privatisation process undertaken by Puducherry governmnt and demanded immediate scrapping of the process.

V K Gupta spokesperson All India Power Engineers Federation informed on Monday that the last night the police tried to arrest the key office bearers of various unions at the protest meeting site in response to which more than 500 employees gave mass arrests at that time.They were released today early morning but later 10 union leaders has been arrested by the police.


National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) held a meeting with two Ex chief ministers of Puducherry and all opposition MLAs.

They all assured full support to the protest against privatisation of electricity department 2000 employees of electricity department are on indefinite strike for the last six days against the government's decision to privatise electricity distribution.

Electricity department is running into profits and with low transmission and commercial losses of 11% only.Further Electricity (amendment ) bill 2022 has been referred to standing committee for wider consultations, then what is the hurry in privation of power department.
