RUPNAGAR: Rupnagar constituency returning officer Gurwinder Singh Johal has issued show cause notice to Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) candidate from the constituency Dinesh Chadha for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and guidelines of the election commission of India regarding conduct of general elections during Covid.
In the notice the returning officer said that he had come to know from his (Chadha's) facebook account that he (Chadha) had been violating the guidelines and he had arranged a large gathering of people at village Lalpura(Nurpur Bedi) and also arranged gathering of people in excess of the limit allowed by the election commissioner. By doing this he had violated the model code of conduct, the returning officer said.
He directed Chadha to submit his explanation with 24 hours of receiving the notice failing which action would be taken against him as per rules for violating Covid guidelines and model code of conduct.
