PHAGWARA: In a broad daylight robbery, two unidentified miscreants fled with gold ornaments worth approximately ₹2 lakh from a jeweller’s shop located near the School of Eminence in the Loharan Mandi area of Phagwara on Saturday late evening.
According to Sarang Nishchal, the shop owner, two young men arrived at the shop—one entered while the other remained outside on a motorcycle.
The youth inside the shop posed as a customer and asked to see gold earrings. As the shopkeeper began showing the ornaments, the accused discreetly placed a box aside. When the shopkeeper's attention was momentarily diverted, the accused quickly picked up the gold items and dashed out. He jumped onto the waiting motorcycle, and both suspects fled the scene.
The stolen items reportedly include a 10-gram gold chain, a pair of 3-gram gold earrings, and a 3-gram gold ring.
Police have been informed and an investigation is underway. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and have begun efforts to identify and apprehend the culprits.
