Robbers gang busted by Kapurthala police, four arrested

KAPURTHALA: District police team headed by SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh busted a gang of robbers by arresting four members who were members of a notorious electricity transformer looting gang active in the district.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mukhtiar singh alias Mota , Kulwant singh alias Kallu , Kala Singh and Gurmeet Singh alias laddoo, residents of Kapurthala.

SSP Kapurthala Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh while confirming it told this correspondent here today that the gang was active in the district for the past few months and with their arrest, the police have solved various cases registered in different police station.

The SSP further said that the Police Party of Kotwali police station received secret information that these criminals armed with sharp edged weapons have gathered in the Government Elementary School Bhila and planning to rob and steal.

He told that Under the police team of SHO Kotwali led by DSP City Surinder Singh immediately raided the spot and recovered two sharp weapons, a Pulsar motorcycle number PB09Q1861 from them, he added

SSP said that During the preliminary investigation accused Gurmeet singh alias Ladoo revealed that, he along with his associates Kulwant @kallu , Mukhtiar Singh, Sukhjinder Singh and Puran Singh alias Mattar looted copper and oil from the Electricity transformers installed at village Mansoorwal dona, Jalandhar road Pir Chaudary, Saroopwal tanda road Begowal, Model town Kapurthala, Araianwal , Industrial area Sheikhupur, Jaggi market Kanjli road, Narangpur, Mundi mor, Awan bhike shah, Bariar, Bhila , Jail road and village Khassan.

SSP added that they also revealed that they are all drug addicts and sell Copper and oil to buy drugs. Police team also recovered 445 intoxicant tablets from the possession of Gurmeet Singh alias Ladoo and Mukhtiar singh alias Mota.

The criminals sold copper and oil to one scrap dealer Bagga s/o Bali ram resident of village Jaggan Subhanpur.

Giving details of the past records of the criminals, the SSP said that these criminals are habitual offenders. Kala Singh has already been booked in five separate cases of IPC and NDPS Act, Kulwant Singh was involved in three cases of theft while other two were also having cases of theft and excise act them.

Three different cases FIR No. 167 dated 10.06.2021 under section 399, 402 of IPC and FIR 168 and Fir 169 dated 11.06.2021 under section 22 NDPS Act have been registered against the criminals in police station Kotwali, Kapurthala.

The police teams are moved to arrest the remaining members of gang Sukhjinder Singh and Puran Singh alias matter.
