NAWANSHAHR:The crackdown on drug traffickers by the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (Nawanshahr) police gained momentum when it succeeded in seizing in large quantities cannabis (Ganja) and illicit liquor in Kathgarh and Banga areas, respectively. Disclosing this here today in a press release SSP Harmanbir Singh Gill said that Kathgarh police recovered 21 kg of cannabis from Pujari, son of Gopi, a resident of Machhiwara, but currently residing at Rail Majra. A case under NDPS Act case has been registered against the accused.
SSP said similarly the Sadar Banga police, during a naka, seized 30 boxes of illicit liquor from Shubham son of Sher Singh, a resident of Hardokhanpur and Kuncham alias Sunn, son of Balbir Kumar resident of Bassi Khawaju, both villages in Hoshiarpur district and registered a case under the Excise Act against them. He said that no leniency would be shown against drug smugglers and anti-social elements in the district.
