Phagwara Police Arrest Four Accused in Drummer’s Murder, Recover Weapon and Vehicle

PHAGWARA: Phagwara police have arrested four persons involved in the murder of a young drummer who was shot dead on the night of December 3 in the Hadiabad area near Phagwara. Confirming the development on Saturday evening, Superintendent of Police (SP) Phagwara Madhvi Sharma said all the accused involved in the crime have now been taken into custody.

SP Madhvi Sharma told this correspondent that the prime accused shooter has been identified as Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi, a resident of village Khajurala near Phagwara. She said the other three accused — Raj Karan alias Golu of village Manakpur (Shahkot), Chetan of Khajurala, and Amritpal Singh alias Amit of Shahkot — were arrested within hours of the crime during swift police action.

During the investigation, police recovered a 7.65 mm pistol along with two live cartridges from the possession of the accused Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi. A Hyundai Creta car bearing registration number PB-36-J-0063, allegedly used in the crime, was also seized, SP Madhvi Sharma said. criminal cases.The murder had occurred following a minor argument late on December 3, when the victim, 30-year-old drummer Avinash alias Golu, was shot by armed assailants in the Janjhghar Hadiabad area of Phagwara. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The incident had created panic in the area and prompted immediate police intervention.
