MUMBAI: A disturbing incident has surfaced in Mumbai’s Chembur area, where a man identified as Asgar Samsuddin Ansari has been arrested for allegedly stalking and molesting minor girls.

According to the Chembur Police, the accused targeted 12-year-old girls while they were playing within a local housing society. Following a formal complaint, authorities acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect.

The Chembur Police Station has registered a case against Ansari under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alongside relevant provisions of the POCSO Act. The accused remains in custody as police conduct further investigations into the matter.

More details are awaited.

This comes as on April 15, a man accused of sexually exploiting at least 180 minor girls and recording more than 350 obscene videos has been arrested in Maharashtra's Amravati district, police said.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Ayaz, also known as Tanveer and a resident of Paratwada city, allegedly lured minor girls into a "love trap" before taking them to cities such as Mumbai and Pune, where he is suspected of having recorded objectionable videos of them.

Investigators had said these videos were then used to blackmail the victims and force them into prostitution, with some clips reportedly circulated online as well.
