PHAGWARA: In a major breakthrough, the Kapurthala Police have successfully arrested four accused involved in a recent armed attack at Village Bhakhariana, Phagwara. The operation was led under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, IPS, and marks a significant step in cracking down on gun violence in the region.
S.S.P. Gaurav Toora told this correspondent here on Friday that the arrested accused have been identified as Damanpreet Singh, resident of Gohalwar (Tarn Taran); Parminder Singh alias Raja, resident of Sultanwind Road, Amritsar; Gurjit Singh alias Jeeta, and Malak Singh, both residents of Jhitakalan, District Amritsar.
A .32 bore pistol used in the crime, along with four live cartridges, one Hero Splendor motorcycle believed to have been used during the attack, and four mobile phones were recovered from the accused at the time of arrest. Among them, Damanpreet Singh has a known criminal history, including two previous FIRs — one under the NDPS Act in 2018 and another under the Arms Act in 2023. The other three accused were not previously known to police, added SSP Toora.
