Five persons booked for assault, rioting

PHILLAUR: The Bilga police have booked five persons on the charges of assault and rioting.The investigating officer (IO) Harnek Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sonu alias Chandi, Lattu, Jass and Dil all residents of Talwan village and their one unidentified accomplice .

Dharmindar Singh a resident of Gorsian Peeran village under Nurmahala police station complained to the police that the accused took him to near Gadra village on some pretext on March 31 and attacked him with sharp edged weapons and seriously injured him set afire his motor cycle.

IO said that a case under sections 323, 324 (voluntarily causing dangerous weapons or means) 435 (committing mischief by fire) 427(mischief) and 148 and 149(rioting) of the ipc has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.

The Nakodar sadar police booked 21 residents of Billi Chao village for assaulting Kewal Singh of the same village said IO Kewal Singh.
