PHAGWARA: In a prompt and coordinated response, the Phagwara police headed by S.P. Phagwara Madhvi Sharma successfully traced five minor children reported missing from Chachoki village and reunited them safely with their families, bringing relief to the migrant community residing in the area.
According to SP Madhvi, the children, all belonging to migrant families, had gone missing under unclear circumstances, prompting immediate concern among their guardians. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 346 of the Indian Penal Code and launched a search operation. After preliminary investigation and field inquiries, the children were located at Khera Mandir within the jurisdiction limits. Authorities clarified that the minors had wandered off while moving around during the Maha Shivaratri festivities and had not been abducted. Following due verification and legal formalities, the children were safely handed over to their parents.
S.P. stated that timely information and coordinated ground-level action helped prevent any untoward incident. They also appealed to parents and guardians to remain vigilant during large religious gatherings and festivals, where crowded environments can easily lead to children getting separated unintentionally.
