Satya Pal Jain to be chancellor’s nominee on PU committee for governance reforms

CHANDIGARH: Additional Solicitor General of India Satya Pal Jain has been nominated as the nominee of the Vice President of India and the Chancellor of Panjab University on a High Level Committee of experts to examine various facets of the Panjab University. This committee was constituted by the Chancellor on February 8 as a High Level Committee of Experts to examine various facets of the existing governance structure of the Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The Committee has 11 members, in which there was to be one nominee of the Chancellor of the Panjab University. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, vide his order dated 23-2-2021, has nominated Mr. Jain as his nominee to the High Level Committee.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Jain has been associated with the Panjab University for a very long time and has been a member of the Panjab University Senate for 40 years. He has completed 10 terms of four- year each as a member of the Panjab University Senate. He has been a member of the Panjab University Syndicate as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University.
An expert on Constitutional and Election matters, Mr. Jain has been actively involved in various issues of governance reforms of the Panjab University.
